A 38-year-old woman suffered a second-degree burn to her leg in a house fire Monday in Waimea.

Firefighters arrived at 59-0552 Lokelani Place at 8:38 a.m. and found two occupants standing outside the two-story home with light smoke emanating from an attached single story common area, according to the Hawaii County Fire Department. The fire was confined to the laundry and living room areas and was extinguished. Estimated damage was $100,000, caused by smoke and heat.

Four companies with a total of 20 personnel responded to the call. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
